The League’s jury program provides several options for craftspeople. There are opportunities for craftsmen who (A) want to know more about the League jury process, (B) wish to receive suggestions to improve their work from master-level craftsmen, and (C) would like to become a juried member.
A. The League jury process
Meet with the Standards and Education Manager and have your questions answered. The League jury process and League Standards Guidelines and Criteria will be explained and discussed.
B. Critique
Bring examples of your work to headquarters to be critiqued. Meet with one or more master-level craftsmen who serve as League jurors in your specific medium. During the critique session the jurors will identify and discuss the strengths of your work and offer suggestions for improvement or advancement in order to meet League Standards Guidelines in preparation to apply for a jury.
C. Jury session
Apply for a jury session. Submit an application with images of your work. The application is reviewed by the Standards Committee for completeness and appropriateness. A jury session is scheduled and applicants meet with two to five master level League juried craftsmen for approximately one hour. Applicants share their work with the jurors, explaining their techniques and processes. Using the League’s Standards Criteria for the relevant craft medium, the jurors evaluate the work and then meet with the applicant to discuss the decision and reasons behind it. Possible jury outcomes include conditional acceptance, deferral, or non-acceptance.
