| Parent and Child Art Explorations

Working with copper and silver, you will work on natural forms such as flowers, leaves, seed-pods, and shells, to gain a fundamental understanding of how to build 3-dimensional structures that can be applied to your sculpture or jewelry. You will leave with a solid understanding of using hammers and heat to explore the natural characteristics of these metals, as well as soldering techniques and basic heat patination (coloring). |

Becoming aware of and collecting scraps, the “art” in your environment will become your subject and the medium. The use of random chance and spontaneity will be encouraged.

Using silver and/or copper, you will be creating wearable works of art in the form of earrings, rings, pendants or bracelets. Each day there will be a demonstration of different metalsmithing techniques, including piercing, forging, wire wrapping, stone setting and soldering. Whether you choose to make one, highly detailed piece, or one of each, you will be given the technical instruction, tools and freedom of expression to leave with your own wearable masterpiece. For your protection, please wear long pants and closed shoes. Beginner to intermediate level. Material fees vary based on type and number of pieces.
