Rug Braiding Demo

The League of NH Craftsmen Littleton Retail Gallery is pleased to host “Spirit of the Maker” rug-making demonstration by master craftsman Sandy Luckury on Saturday, October 1, 10:30 am to 2:30 pm. Come meet and speak with Sandy and see her technique.

Sandy creates colorful braided rugs that are braided by hand, using new, 100% woolen material. She braids rows of woolen materials into geometric shapes, such as rectangles, squares, hexagons and octagons. Sandy’s use of color combinations in her rugs is what makes them unique, and she takes pride in designing them to match the decor in a room.

Sandy, a New Hampshire native who lives in Bradford, has been braiding rugs for over 25 years. She began braiding rugs for her home and, after retiring from a career in banking, made rug braiding her major focus. She apprenticed with master braider Barbara Fisher for two years and is a Certified Instructor of the Braiding with Barbara methods. She teaches rug braiding at the Dorr Mill Store in Guild, NH. Sandy has been a juried member of the League since 2004.
