Decorated Gourd   Decorated Gourd

Gourd Decorating
June 13, 2009, 10:30 to 4:30
Micheline
Micheline will teach a class on gourd decoration, after a brief history on gourds students will learn how to chose a gourd, cut it, clean it, and draw designs of their choice. Once the design is penciled on to the gourd students will burn the design into the surface and follow with stains. Students will go home with a finished gourd.
Tuition: $45
Materials fee: $15

Digital Photography Series

The Meredith League of NH Craftsmen Gallery is hosting a series of four digital photography workshops this summer with Jim MacMillan. Jim has been involved in the print industry for more than 30 years. He has taught classes at Vutek as a trainer of grand format industrial digital printing equipment, photography and printing at Gilford High School, and has owned his own business for 15 years. This wealth of experience is now being offered at the League of NH Craftsmen Gallery in a series of workshops offering instruction on various digital imaging topics.

Understanding How To Use Your Digital Camera
July 13, 2009, 6:30 to 9 pm
This class will cover the digital camera's ability to capture images and how that affects the quality of those images. The discussion will center on lighting, using flash, settings to improve picture quality, and storagge of images. We will also discuss color inkjet printing, print media, calibration, and archival print quality.
Tuition: $35

Beginning Photoshop
July 20, 2009, 6:30 to 9 pm
This class will center on understanding the basic tools available in all recent Photoshop versions. The concentration is on Adobe Photoshop to open, manipulate, color correct and change images taken with digital camera's. It will also take the users through often-overlooked tools and filters used to help improve images that are under exposed or in need of correction. The class time will be divided into three groups: Understanding tools available to users, color correction methods used in the professional realm, and using Photoshop to get the best print from the image.

Intermediate Photoshop
July 27, 2009, 6:30 to 9 pm
More and more people use Adobe Photoshop at home to print their digital images. This class will cover the methods of getting the best print through the tools offered in Photoshop, and how to modify their files to achieve the color they see on the computer screen. Both software and printing techniques will be covered in class. The participant should already have a good understanding of how to work in Adobe Photoshop.

Creative Digital Photography
August 3, 2009, 6:30 to 9 pm
This class builds on the first class in that you will now know how to adjust your camera so you can get the picture you want to create. It will examine the possibilities of night photography, long exposures, blur and zoom, using fill-flash, creative uses of ISO, and how to adjust your pictures to get them to look like what you imagined. This is a really fun and thought provoking class.

Fog Rising Watercolor by Cheryl Johnson

Watercolor Landscapes for the First Time

Have you ever wanted to try painting a watercolor landscape? Join Campton, NH, watercolorist, Cheryl Johnson, for this informative workshop and give it a try! The morning session will focus on watercolor basics, including materials and supplies, basic washes, brush strokes, color mixing, and composition. After a break for a brown bag lunch (please bring one!), participants will complete a simple landscape. No painting or drawing experience is needed, and all materials will be supplied.
Pre-Registration required. This class fills early so register TODAY!

Materials fee: $10

Course Registration

     Classes do fill early and PRE- REGISTRATION is required. A registration is not confirmed until a check for the tuition is received. Should a class need to be cancelled by the League, those who registered will be notified and the tuition will be returned. If a participant is unable to attend the class, notification must be given to the League at least one week in advance in order to have the tuition refunded. A waiting list for the classes will be developed and, as openings arise, replacements from the list will be notified to fill cancellations.
