Dear Craftsperson:

One of the best ways to promote yourself and your craft is by doing a craft demonstration. The League has established a Spirit of the Maker demonstration series in each retail gallery to educate the public about the skills and artistry involved in making fine handcraft. We are excited that Jack Dokus will be demonstrating his craft this year, and want to thank Michele O'Neil Kincaid, Judith Copeland, Paulette Werger, and Sharon Dugan for participating in the series and attracting more visitors to the retail galleries.

Craft demonstrations are part of every successful craft business, as they help you:

  • Generate awareness of your work and your technique to the buying public, which will lead to sales
  • Get instant feedback and customer input
  • Educate the retail gallery staff who promote and sell your product
  • Support the League of NH Craftsmen's mission to educate the public about the importance and value of fine hand craft

If you are interested in learning more about the Spirit of the Maker series, please contact Catherine Green at League headquarters at cgreen@nhcrafts.org or 603-224-3375. If you are interested in demonstrating at any one of the retail galleries, please contact the Retail Gallery manager. We are happy to promote your appearance, as it brings more people into our galleries and helps us sell your craft!

Bios, Bios, Bios!

We are pleased to report that we are getting more bios! This is critical as our customers want to know about you when they buy your fine craft. If you have already done your bio, thank you so much! If you haven't, you can do one online through the League's Members Section (see instructions below) or complete the colored bio form that was mailed with your commission check.

Along with your bio, professionally photographed images are vital. A good photo shows off your piece, capturing its distinctive beauty and detail. It should be in focus, evenly lit, on a neutral background (gray or black) and free of any clutter that will distract from your craft. Once you have images, please share them with us, the League's marketing consultant, Sullivan Creative, and others.

  1. Save your image files in .jpg or .tif format.
  2. For print purposes, the file resolution should be 300 dpi (dpi = dots per inch). In addition to the resolution, the images must be at least 4 x 6 in dimension.
  3. For web use, file resolution should be 72 dpi and must be at least 4 inches x 6 inches in dimension. Please note that web files cannot be used for print, as web quality files reproduce poorly when printed. Images should not be pulled from a website, if they are being used for print.
  4. Send a CD of your images to Pam Sullivan, Marketing Consultant in care of the League of NH Craftsmen, 205 North Main Street, Concord, NH 03301
