Ukrainian Egg Decorating
TWO separate CLASSES:

This Easter, create a basket of beauty with handmade Ukrainian eggs. With a special tool you will draw the design with wax on a white chicken egg. The wax lines will resist the dye and remain white. After repeating the process with various colors, the contents of the egg are emptied and several coats of glaze applied.
This class fills early so register TODAY!

Chair Caning

Students will learn the techniques involved in hand caning. This is the most well known of the seat weavings. The octagonal pattern is a traditional design where the seven step method is used to weave individual strands of cane through holes drilled into the perimeter of the seat. Students should finish one chair in this three week class.

Wireworking Workshop

Making Wire Jewelry and Wire Working - Explore the wonderful world of working with wire. Wire is such a fascinating, flexible medium and you can do so much with it. We will coil, wrap, tinker, weave, twine, braid, crotchet, knit, twist and much more to make all kinds of fabulous jewelry and accessories. Wire is not just confined to jewelry, but can be used to make vessels, baskets, lampshades and other wonderful home accessories. Even sculpture can be created with wire. Best of all, it's low-tech and does not require a lot of fancy tools to work with. A couple of pliers, wire cutters, masking tape, a Sharpie marker, a mallet, a steel square and a ruler is pretty much what you need. We will be using colored copper wire, brass, bronze, nickel and silver wire.
Tuition: $45
Materials: $30 per student for wire that instructor will provide
Chain Making

This one day workshop will explore the flexible world of chains. Using wire and some sheet metal, we will bend, wrap, hammer, knit wire into various types of chains. We will start off with simple chains that can be easily done with pliers and wire such as the Egyptian spiral chain, wrapped link chains, simple wire links that we can link together with jump rings. We will knit chains using very fine wire using just pliers and a wooden dowel which can be done anywhere. Then we will get into soldering compoments togethers such as multiple rings to create cable chains. Students will have various samples of chains they can make to take home and we will have tone finished chain. Last, clasps and finishing off chains will be covered so you can wear your latest creation!

* If students wish to work with silver wire, a limited amount of silver wire will be available for purchase. Students can e-mail instructor ahead of time regarding specific wire needs. Open to all levels.
Pin/Pendant Workshop

Pins, Pendants, Oh My! - Here’s a chance to make your own pendants that can even be pins.Using brass, copper and some silver, we will hammer, shape, form, stamp, rivet, solder, tweak and much more to make pendants, that can also do double duty as pins. Bring in any beads or stuff you want to use to incorporate into pendants or pins. Instructor will provide copper, brass and some silver for students to purchase.
Tuition: $45
Materials: $20 - $50 depending on student choices.
Make A Pair Of Earrings In A Day

Ever wanted to make your own earrings? Using wire and sheet metal, we can shape, hammer, bend, tweak, curl, solder and much more to make earrings. Tips on making the perfect french earwire or hoop earrings will be given, how to incorporate beads and other goodies into earrings will be covered. Students can bring in beads, stones, charms and whatever they want to use to make into earrings. Instructor will provide copper, brass, silver and earbacks for students to purchase.
Tuition: $45
Materials fee: $20 - $50 depending on students choice of materials.
Make A Ring In A Day
July 5, 2008, 10:30-4:30

In this one day workshop, we will make our own rings. Using wire, we will wrap, bend, shape, twist, coil, solder and much more to make rings for ourselves or for someone special. We will also use sheet metal such as silver or copper to make band rings that we can stamp sayings, names or dates, hammer-texture or create patterns. If time permits, we can do simple stone settings to set stones. Students can bring in some stones they can try setting. Instructor will provide copper, brass, silver and some gemstones such as black onyx.
