About Us - The Kira Fournier Library Resource Center
The Kira Fournier Library Resource Center
The Library was established in 1975 and includes more than 2,000 craft-related books and periodicals — some on general craft topics; others on specific media. The Library is available for use by current juried and supporting members of the League and is open Monday through Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
The League has a genuine treasure-trove of material relating to craft and the League dating back to the mid-1920s. In addition to important information about the League's history, it includes more than 4,000 photographs, slides, newsletters, and newspaper clippings. Thanks to Cultural Conservation Grants (from the Moose Plate program) awarded by the NH State Council on the Arts, the League was able to create an archive system to preserve these documents and memorabilia. All of the furniture and light fixtures are handmade by our craftspeople.
The Archives were professionally sorted, researched, and documented by Jo August Hills, librarian and member of the New England Archivists Organization, with the generous volunteer assistance of Gay Zimmerman, a retired professional librarian. A finding aid was created to enable research for the enjoyment of members of the League of NH Craftsmen and the general public.
The papers are open for research with no restrictions placed upon them by the League other than a proper citation in both unpublished and published works. Other records are available on computer. Please call the League office if you wish to research a topic. Additional early records are in the New Hampshire State Library.
