In this one-day workshop students can choose which kind of basket they would like to make from start to finish. Ray has been handcrafting baskets for over 20 years, and we are delighted to offer both his wares and his workshops here at the Meredith gallery.

  All materials and use of tools are included in the workshop fee. Students   are encouraged to bring a lunch as the workshop runs a full 8 hours.

Pocket Full of Posies (Soutache Jewelry) with Amee Sweet-McNamara

Sick of Winter? Looking forward to Spring? Come garden with us! Grow a bouquet you can carry in the palm of your hand. Amee K. Sweet-McNamara’s Soutache & Bead Embroidery Class is for “Adventurous Beginners;” – great for folks who have already started working with Soutache or for brand-new students who enjoy truly immersing themselves in a craft in order to learn it well. While making this beautiful pin which can also be worn as a pendant, students will learn all of the Basics – Aligning & Stacking, Shaping Stitches, Two-Sided Joins and Edge-Beading along with some terrific bonus-skills like making Spirals, working with Super-Duo beads and Layering Components.

This is a 6-hr. Intensive for "Adventurous Beginners." Kits are required and will be provided in five different colorways including some neutrals.

Tuition is $45.00 per student, and there is an additional $35 materials fee for the soutache kits to be paid to the instructor the day of the class. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.


 Free Lace Scarf with Nancy Evans
Friday, May 30th
10:00am - 3:00pm

 

Make a lacy fiber scarf with yarns, threads, ribbons, strips and bits of fabric. Sew your fibers together with simple "thread play" between 2 layers of water soluble stabilizer, rinse, embellish with beads, and a fabulous art to wear scarf remains!

Bring to class: a sewing machine in good working order ( only basic straight stitch needed), a collection of fibers, ribbons, yarns, bits of silk or other fabric, light weight fabric to tear into strips if desired( pattern on both sides a plus), sewing machine thread to compliment your fibers, and 2 bobbins wound to match, beads for embellishment if desired, needle to sew on beads, scissors. Soft fibers and ribbons are most desirable as you will have this around your neck. Extra kits will be available for purchase.

Tuition is $70.00 per student, and there is an additional $15 materials fee to be paid to the instructor the day of the class. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

Bezel Silver Jewelry with Joy Raskin
Saturday, May 31st
10:30am - 4:30pm

Make a ring, cuff bracelet or bangle, accented with a bezel-set stone. In this one day workshop, we will make a ring or bracelet with a glass or stone cabuchon set in a sterling bezel setting. Learn to solder silver, make a basic bezel setting, a simple wire ring, solder bezel onto ring or bracelet, and set stone. Instructor will provide silver and gemstones for students and material fees will range from $25 to $50 depending on how much silver is used.

Tuition is $70.00 per student, and there is an additional $25 - $50 materials fee to be paid to the instructor the day of the class (depending on amount of silver used). Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.


Design your own Garden Totem with Paula Barry
Saturday, June 28th

11:00am - 3:00pm

Enjoy  a relaxing day creating your very own garden totem. During this workshop participants can come anytime between 11am and 3pm to design their own garden totem from a variety of clay beads!

This workshop is to be held outside of the League of NH Craftsmen - Meredith Fine Craft Gallery (weather permitting), so plan accordingly. If the weather is not cooperative, this workshop will be held inside the Gallery. 

Costs depend on totem size chosen.
Small: 19"    $129
Medium: 25"    $179
Large: 31"    $229

Please bring with you a box and packing material.

A deposit of $100 will be needed in order to sign up for this workshop and the remainder is to be paid the day of the workshop. Pre-registration is required.


 Beginner Needle Tatting with Elaine O’Donal

Learn the oldest and the easiest form of Tatting from International winner Tatter and Designer Elaine O'Donal. During this class you will learn the process of creating a beautiful needle tatted butterfly from beginning to end and you will also learn a bit about the origins and history of tatting. Come to this class and learn how to do a rare form of fiber art!

Learning to tat with the needle is much easier and faster to learn than the shuttle method. No prior experience is needed.  Class will include everything you need to know to tat with the needle, from start to finish. Including how to follow patterns and finish pieces.

Tuition is $25.00 per student, and there is an additional $10 materials fee for the kit to be paid to the instructor the day of the class. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.


  Frolic with Fiber: Felted Flower with Nancy Evans
Saturday, July 12th
10:00am - 2:00pm

Learn to make wet felted flowers incorporating silk and silk hankies. These flowers can be used in pins, to decorate a hat or bag, or to make a necklace. Centers of flowers can be beaded for added interest. Participants will complete multiple pieces.

Bring to class: old towel ,scissors, beads for embellishment if you choose, beading thread and needle, pin back if you wish. Wool, silk, and felting supplies will be provided.

Tuition is $45.00 per student, and there is an additional $10 materials fee to be paid to the instructor the day of the class. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

 


Alcohol Ink Tiles with Alene Sirott-Cope
Saturday, August 2nd
11:00am - 2:00pm

This workshop illustrates the ease and fun of creating your own custom ceramic tiles which can be used for back splashes, kitchen and bathroom accents, trivets, coasters, wall hangings and trinket box covers. Alcohol inks are dyes which have an isopropyl rubbing alcohol base and can be manipulated in fascinating and unpredictable ways when affected with other liquid mediums on nonporous surfaces. You don't have to have experience with any painting medium to enjoy this workshop.

 Zulu Flowerette Necklace with Deb Fairchild

11:00am - 4:00pm

This necklace is a wonderful introduction to the rich beading tradition of the African Zulu tribe. The ‘flowers’ are lightweight and make a great choice for summertime jewelry.  Make one and you'll be tempted to experiment with simple modifications to create stunning variations.  This is a ideal class for anyone who would like to experiment with beading or for experienced beaders who are looking for a new perspective!  No prior experience required. Students should bring eyeglasses or magnifiers if they use these for close work.
