In this one-day workshop students can choose which kind of basket they would like to make from start to finish. Ray has been handcrafting baskets for over 20 years, and we are delighted to offer both his wares and his workshops here at the Meredith gallery.

All materials and use of tools are included in the workshop fee. Students are encouraged to bring a lunch as the workshop runs a full 8 hours.

This class will show you how to design, cut, foil and solder your own glass panel or ornament.  Stained glass comes in all colors and all kinds of textures.  Students can choose one of six designs they would like to make and the final projects will be framed and ready for hanging. 

Students will need to bring: cork board at least 20 x 24 inches, apron, latex gloves, safety glasses, very casual clothes and covered shoes – no sandals!  If you wear glasses, you do not need safety glasses.

Tuition is $45.00 per student, and there is no additional materials fee. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Materials list provided when students register.

**NEED 3 STUDENTS TO RUN**

This tubular variation of the traditional peyote beadweaving technique combines seed beads in a variety of sizes to create a stunning bracelet with intriguing spiraling contours.  Previous beadweaving experience is helpful.

Tuition is $35.00 per student and there is a $20.00 materials fee paid directly to the instructor. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.


INTRODUCTION TO RUG HOOKING

**CLASS IS NOT BEING HELD AT THE MEREDITH GALLERY**

This class will be held at the Woolen Pear at the Brookside Mall located at 563 Route 106 in North Loudon, NH.  It is next to the Eggshell Restaurant.

In this class you will learn the basics of rug hooking, students will have a selection of beginner patterns to choose from with a choice of colors to work from. See right for an example. There will be discussion and examples of color planning.

Materials include: hook, pattern, wool to complete project. Students will need to bring a 12-inch quilting type hoop.

Tuition is $145.00 per student, and there is no additional materials fee. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

**NEED 1 STUDENT TO RUN**

Learn how to combine wool roving with silk hankies and wet felt them to create these beautiful flowers.  The silk hankies give the surface of the flowers a beautiful texture.  Each flower is multi layered and done in one step.  No sewing is required.

Students will need to bring: a couple of old towels, scissors, needle and thread for sewing on beads if you want to embellish.

These make great pins or embellishments for hats, coats, or just enjoy them the way they are.  The centers can be beaded or embellished to add extra sparkle and beauty.

In this, you will learn the (easy!) secret for transforming a pile of jump rings into an awesome bracelet using the Byzantine knot technique.  You'll also learn about many different ways to use this technique to create awesome jewelry for yourself and your friends.  The Byzantine is a great introduction to chain maille!

So many ancient chain maille techniques have been adapted for modern jewelry, and the Double Spiral technique is truly one of the most elegant and versatile.  It makes a great stand alone piece or a distinctive chain for charms and pendants.  This class will also cover the basics of chain maille (tools, materials, resources, etc.).  No prior chain maille experience required.

Tuition is $25.00 per student and there is a $15.00 materials fee paid directly to the instructor. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

**CLASS IS FULL**

Pyrography is a wonderful craft with many exciting possibilities but can also be a little intimidating.  The aim of this workshop is to help both the beginner and advanced burner to make the most of pyrography and to make it a more enjoyable experience.  Students do not need to know how to draw and projects will be explained and demonstrated step by step.

Students will:
  • Learn about equipment, set-up and safety
  • Practice prep and transfer methods
  • Experiment with different materials and color
  • Discuss nib use and car
  • Learn about timber selection
  • Execute and practice smooth strokes
  • Become skilled at creating value with different types of marks
  • Discover how to create tonal value with a shader
  • Learn means to correct mistakes
  • Experiment to create different textures
  • Discover how to troubleshoot their work

Students will need to bring: a soft pencil, fine grit sandpaper, utility blade, soft eraser and tack cloth or rag. Optional: leather strap and fine abrasive compound for sharpening skews.  The workshop provides wood and patterns.

Tuition is $100.00 per student, and there is no additional materials fee. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.  Materials list provided when students register.

**NEED 4 STUDENTS TO RUN**

Learn the basics of nuno felting as you combine soft Merino wool roving and bits of silk chiffon to make this artsy necklace.  Many different features can be used in this wet felting project to make it interesting and your own.  We will make "dred locks" on the edge, or you can finish your piece with a silk ruffle.  Making a rope will also be taught.  

Students will leave class with a completed necklace however some embellishments, such as beading, can be done at home on your own.  The instructor will gladly help with any ideas that students may have.


Students need to bring: a couple of old towels, needle and thread and scissors.  Beads, buttons or other embellishments to decorate your piece.

Tuition is $60.00 per student and there is no materials fee. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.

For when you just need a little something special!  The Little Black Necklace is made using easy bead netting technique.  It is striking in black but, of course, you can make it in many other colors to complement your favorite outfit!  This is a great first beadweaving project!
