Payne and Elise Junker
Media: Metal

We like to tell people we are the blacksmith and the ballerina. Our forged and torch cut metal reflect these origins. Payne has a background in traditional colonial ironwork, learned while still in high school. Over the last 30 years he has explored many types of design, from Art Nouvea to contemporary. He forges original functional and decorative pieces that 'dance' with graceful, organic form. Elise, who comes from a background of modern dance and folk painting, now creates joyous torchcut metal work that speak of her life among the mountains and villages of New England. Combined, their work is an interplay of artistic vision and a twenty year love affair with each other and a rural life.
