Samuel Wild
Media: Clay

After earning MFA from Ohio University in 1970 I became and remain a studio potter.
My early interest in clay was texture. I spent many years producing a matt white, painted pottery. Eight years ago I developed new glaze for textural work. The work developed quickly and continues to evolve. I do not start a pot with much of an idea as to how it will look; the last mark frequently suggests the next one. Sometimes I'm influenced by the tools in sight, and sometimes I'll look for one.
Many people say that my work reflects a sense of humor, this is true, I often put things together that don't belong together or use symbols that my art teachers declared trite.
