Kathleen Peters
Media: Fiber

While practicing engineering at 3M, Kathleen H. Peters was drawn to fiber as a creative outlet. Learning about the unique material properties of wool, felting became entwined with engineering. To create heirloom quality work, she uses her technical understanding of how the wool fibers interact on the microscale.

The natural environment provides most of Kathleen's inspiration, gleaned from places she has trekked and from her community. However, the pieces are intended to evoke an emotional experience rather than replicate the sights. They capture moments of silence and reflection. These snapshots of stability and calm are frozen in a fiber web, allowing her to share them with others.
