Jamie Page
Media: Fiber

I am fortunate to have had breeding quality alpacas in my care since 2002. Over the years as I handled their soft fiber, I began to imagine how pleasant it would be to work with it and to produce finished goods that were both useful and refined. With it in mind to use the lesser quality parts of the fleece, the leg and belly hair, I took a weaving class at Harrisville, then taught myself how to weave rugs in the Scandinavian Krokbragd tradition. Simultaneously I learned to knit and make felted hats with the prime fiber. Caring for the alpacas, and now also weaving and knitting with their fiberů I'm finding it a highly rewarding way of life.
