Janice Christie
Media: Baskets

I started pine needle basketry six years ago after being introduced to it through an earth skills class. From a museum I purchased the book, Pine Needle Basketry From Forest Floor to Finished Project, by Judy Mallow and was instantly enthralled. The smell of the 12-18 long-leaf pine needles transports me to the woods and the natural environment as nothing else can. I find inspiration in the earth based forms themselves as I wish to make both useful and beautiful baskets that highlight the versatility of the natural items I use. With my craft expanding over the coming years I look forward to growing and learning from the experience of like-minded League of NH craftsmen members.
